Truth Hawks, the creator behind the Truth label, has a reputation that extends beyond the fashion community. Truth is known throughout the grid as the paramour who broke the heart of the delicate and chaste Swirly Cyclone. He’s also been known, on occasions, to create some pretty good hair, clothes and accessories.
Little did I know of Truth’s heart breaker reputation and wanton ways when I first came to the grid, but innocent that I was, I bought some of my first outfits, shown here, from Truth. Twelve months down the track, and a decade in grid terms, Truth’s creations still remain a wardrobe staple.
The Gypsy Coat is still the perfect mix and match option, especially if you enjoy mixing your textures. I played with the self pattered floral motif in the coat and added pieces with horizontal and vertical stripes. For a different look, I added Truth’s wonderful “Paris Hair” which comes with the diagonal patterned hat. The hat has a color option menu and shown here is the basic black option. But you can change the hat to a variety of colors, just as the Gypsy Coat is available in different colors. It’s works as an urban street piece, vintage or classic look.
It’s hard to believe that a cold hearted debauchee like Truth could create a classic understated, elegant gown, but his Black Lavender is simply stunning; with it’s delicate lace hem border and soft shadowed ribbon textures on the bodice. The gown also includes the arm rosette reminiscent of 1930’s gowns.
Be warned! Unlike Truth’s declarations of true love - his clothes have stood the test of time!

I love Truth’s hair! And I’ve found that many of his male styles work well and add a certain funkiness to any look. As a stylist he has a certain savvy for layers and bangs: I’ve always felt if Victoria Beckham had an avy on the grid, she’d be wearing TRUTH.
